Generations Together Day was a HUGE success! I was in the game/puzzle room. Unfortunately these are the only pictures I snapped all day.
There was so much fun had by all.

Our 3rd and 4th grade book buddies helped us order our letters.
ABC order can be fun with friends.

We read/watched "Pete the Cat Five Little Pumpkins", then made our own structure to hold 5 pumpkins. I did not help them. Their job was to work with their partner and make a plan together.

We love practicing our letters by putting them in alphabetical order.

We learned about CAPITAL and lowercase letters.
Lesson #1- only our first letter in our name is CAPITAL. The others have to be lowercase.

Shaving cream is always fun! Plus it cleans our desks and makes our room smell good.
One students said, "It smells like my Grandpa!"

Another FUN week in Kindergarten

We've had some sickness floating around the classroom. Brady was gone for about a week. He was very missed. When he returned he brought with him an Oximeter.
This was so exciting. Every classmate was able to test their oxygen levels.
We even charted and compared our numbers.

The Letter People have invaded our classroom. WE LOVE THEM!
This week Tall Tooth Ms. T surprised us. She taught us all about good dental hygiene.

Show and Tell continues to be a favorite time of the day. Willow spiced it up a bit and brought two of her kittens. Thanks Willow's Mom for coming with them and helping out. The kids are STILL talking about them.

This is such a kind class. This week we gave our friends compliments in the form of writing. They did great and everyone left feeling good about themselves.

I am SO proud of this next project, for several different reasons. Mrs. Meyer and I thought it would be a great idea to partner up the kindergartners and the 8th graders. They will graduate together in the Spring, so we thought it was a good idea for them to get to know each other. When we started discussing it we discovered it was meant to be. We both had 13 students. We BOTH had 8 boys and 5 girls. Coincidence? I think not.

We strategically partnered them up, boys with boys and girls with girls. We are hoping that these partnerships will be together all year long.

For our AWESOME project...
Each pair got to cut out leaves. (those fine motor skill are very important)
I loved to sit back and listen to the conversations while they were cutting.
"What's your favorite movie?"           "What's your favorite color?"
"I like your name."            "Wow, your shoes are cool!"

We read the story, "I like Me". Then we charted as a class our favorite thing about us. After our together time we independently made a page for our class book. This book is floating around in backpacks. I hope it makes it to each home.
This book is worth reading.

Jay's favorite part of him is his heart because it makes him kind, like when his friends get hurt, he can help them up.

We focused on the sight word TO. They were blown away at the many spellings of to/too/two. In this chart activity we were going somewhere.

Fall and fine motor activity. The students tore up paper for this art project. Tearing up paper is a great fine motor practice skill. It can build those finger muscles that help up write our name and cute with scissors.

Our Letter Person began this week! This was one of my sons' favorite things when he was in Kindergarten with Mrs. Bredehoeft. I figured I would continue the tradition. Just as I suspected, these kids LOVED it too. We started with the letter M. Munching Mr. M had a catchy song too. I hope some of you got to hear it.

Mr. M sent us mail. He had us go on a marching hunt to find him.

We found him. He left us marshmallows and M&M's.

Our Kindergarteners LOVE their book buddies. They spend the first 15 minutes reading and the last 15 minutes playing with tub toys. They are building great relationships.
