We read several Gingerbread book this week.
All were a little bit different. We did a lot of comparing.
The PM Class made their own Gingerbread Men. This was a great fine motor activity. We tore paper, glued body parts, and peeled stickers. Our finger muscles were working hard. We also focused on colors and counting.

We charted where we would run if we were the Gingerbread Man.
There responses were great and very original.

STEM Activity
The term STEM is very popular right now in school. STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) focuses on student-led lessons with random materials and limited instructions.
The point is for students to problem solve and collaborate with a partner.
My directions for this activity were to build some for the Gingerbread man to hide in. We read so many stories about the Gingerbread man running away, it would be nice if he had somewhere to hide. I then gave each group gum drops, toothpicks, and a cut out Gingerbread Man. They had so much fun. You could just see their wheels turning.

We made shape crows and scarecrows. The 3 year old class made the crows and the 4 year old class made the scarecrows. There was lots of color practice, shape practice, and following directions.

We went on a leaf hunt. We looked for leaves of different color, shape, and size. The kids had a blast! We even played in the leaves and listened to the sounds they make.

Our "pre-writing" activity went well. The kids already knew quite a bit about turkeys.

I hope everyone had a fun and safe Halloween. Here is a picture of my kiddos for Halloween. Paxton (5 year old) was Batman, Jules (1 year old) was a Bumble Bee, and Reese (3 year old) was Rapunzel.
