This is the read aloud that we listened to several times throughout the week.
We went on a "letter hunt".
While we assembled them, we reviewed our shapes and colors.
Then we compared who had the most letters.
I'm sure you've heard your kids singing this song. This is the read aloud that we listened to several times throughout the week. We started the week by finding the 1st letter of our name. We went on a "letter hunt". We counted out coconuts on the Smart Board. Each student rolled a dice and then counted that many coconuts. As a class we helped. We made YUMMY coconut trees. While we assembled them, we reviewed our shapes and colors. Each class counted the number of letters in their name.
Then we compared who had the most letters.

Oh how I LOVE Pete the Cat books. The kids really get into them. They have catchy lines and songs that go along with each book. After reading "Pete the Cat and His Four Groovy Button," we charted if we were wearing buttons or not. Some of the students had never heard of a button.
We read several books this week. These were a few favorites. We talked about how we are all different and special in our own way. The students discovered their eye colors. We measured ourselves, compared our height, and found out who was the shortest and tallest in the class. We are learning LOTS of new vocabulary words.
NEW toys are fun for any child. They LOVE getting their hands on these toys. New school supplies, YIPEE!!
