Wild Animals

Our FUN with wild animals began with this story, "Dear Zoo". We watched this version on YouTube. It's very interactive and the kids loved it.

After watching the read aloud we discussed which animals would make good pets and which would not. Their answers were very interesting.

"My Mom would NOT want a lion in the house." -DeShawn

"A giraffe is too tall to be in my house. It would break the roof"
-Elena

The students sorted all by themselves. They didn't need much help at all.

From Head to Toe
This is one of my favorite Eric Carle books. It goes great with our animal theme. The PM class practiced identifying their body parts and moving them like the animals in the story.
We made our very own class book. This turned out so cute.
The kids had a blast doing it too.

"Zoo Looking," is a great story for basic zoo knowledge. What animals are at the zoo? What do they look like? The students were able to pick their favorite after we read the story.

Zoo BINGO- We ended our wild animal week by playing BINGO! The students really had to use their listening skills and follow directions in order to eat their cereal. I have several tricks up my sleeve.

The morning class has been working on finding a "stopping point" when counting. I will say, "give me 7," and they give me JUST 7. This is a harder concept. We practiced counting and stopping at 7. They are getting much better.

The afternoon class counted as high as they could. Then they glued that many hearts on their paper. I LOVE how this turned out.

Names, names, names...I cannot stress that enough. My goal is for every student to be able to write and identify all their letters in their name BEFORE Kindergarten!

Another fine motor activity. We tore white paper to make our heart.
We love our Mommies and Daddies to pieces.

Letter Match Fun! The morning kiddos took turns matching uppercase and lowercase letters. They sure are learning MORE and MORE letters every week.

Valentine Party!!
The kiddos enjoyed their class parties. THANK YOU to those of you who sent food and joined us at our party. We sorted candy hearts, passed out our Valentines, and ate LOTS of sweets. You're welcome. ;-)
