Rainbows, Rainbows, & More Rainbows

We began the week talking about the colors of the rainbow.
First we charted our favorite.

Then we worked on our fine motor skills and tore that color of paper.
We were making a special project!

Our MASTERPIECE! Both classes had a part in finishing it. I love that it's the first thing I see when I get to my classroom every day. Little piece from each kiddo! :-)

This is a great book to introduce the colors of the rainbow.

Name Rainbows

The 3 year old class focused on name recognition. Then they placed the colors in order. There were LOTS of listening and following directions required.

The 4 year old class focused on writing their name.
Then they placed the colors in order.

Color & Shape Recognition

This was a quick game we played. The students took turns listening to my directions and choosing the correct shape or color. They are learning so much! I'm SO proud!

Making Our Own Rainbow

I got the science nerd out of my system with this next activity.

You will need:
6 small clear cups
1 medium size clear container
water
food coloring
shaving cream
eye droppers

Step 1: Put a small amount of water in each small cup. Add food coloring to make all 6 rainbow colors. (focus on mixing colors to make the necessary color)

Step 2: Fill the medium container 1/2 full with water.
Step 3: Put shaving cream on top of the water to resemble the clouds.

Step 4: Use the eye dropper to drip the BLUE mixture on top of the shaving cream. (This resembles rain. It will run through the "clouds".)

Step 5: Take turns dropping each color of the rainbow in the shaving cream. (I went in the order of the rainbow. It was a great recall for the students. I even let them take turns adding the colors. The colors will go through the "clouds" and fall from the "sky".)

The Sneaky Little Leprechaun

There was a leprechaun on the loose in our school today!
He left a big GREEN mess for us to clean up. Then he sent us on a hunt.
Luckily there was a sweet surprise at the end.

The 4 year old class was very creative. They needed to take a "trap" and a rope with them to CATCH the leprechaun.

After our hunt the 4 year old class wanted to write a letter to the leprechaun. They were worried he would come back and mess our classroom up.
These are THEIR words.

We had a very WACKY day of our own. We colored on the bottom of our tables.
The kiddos thought I was crazy, but they had fun.
