Animal Moms and Babies
My son said, "Mommy, I want 10 sisters!"
Zoo AnimalsThis was a fun topic. The students loved talking about zoo animals. It made more sense after we did this activity. "Oh, zoo animals live in cages." Our preschoolers loved learning about wild animals. I gave them lots of old magazines and they cut out pictures of wild animals. We are really working on our fine motor skills with scissors. While we cut them out they discussed what made animals wild. I wrote their responses on the chart paper. How Many Legs? The 4 year olds thought this was the coolest. We even had pretend animal toys that we actually counting the legs of. They made a game out of it. Zoo BingoAnimal Moms and BabiesWe began the day by watching this YouTube read aloud. It's a cute Dr. Seuss Book called, "Are You My Mother?". It was a great introduction to our lesson. After the YouTube read aloud we matched pictures of animal moms and their babies. I showed them a MYSTERY picture of a baby (my ultrasound) and had them guess what it was and who the mom was. They were very surprised to find out I was the mom. Later in the week we guessed the gender of the baby. We had a few more votes for girl. The class guess was right. MRS. HEMME WILL HAVE A GIRL IN JUNE! My kiddos were SUPER excited that Mommy was having a girl.

Some cute Valentines books. We focused on FRIENDSHIP this week and the people we love. Loving our Mommies and Daddies to pieces. Focusing on: -the colors pink and red -fine motor skills (tearing paper) -following directions -staying in the lines Love BugsFocusing on : -name practice -patterns with colors -shapes (hearts) Sorting Heart CandyWe began our Valentines Party by sorting Conversational Candy Hearts. These kiddos did a fantastic job! I loved their festive Valentines outfits too! Keepsakes for Mom and DadBalloon HeartsThis might be my favorite thing I've done all year. Each student counted for me. They got as many hearts as they could count. Then they got to glue them. TOGETHER we traced a line from their hand to their balloon.
So cute. I might keep them up the rest of the year. :-) We had such an exciting week with very interesting visitors. The students learned so much. They all have BIG dreams of what they want to be when they grow up now. VeterinarianMo-Dot WorkerA BIG thank you to our special guests.
