We had a special visitor. The GINGERBREAD MAN sent us on a hunt to find him.
We weren't successful but had a lot of fun.
He even left us a special treat at the end.

The kiddos came up with lots of things that they were thankful for. Everything from Mom, Dad, teachers, school bus drivers, toys, bikes, Barbies, and
Casey's Pizza were a few things they came up with.

Turkeys

What a FUN turkey week. We learned ALL about turkeys.
Here are a few things we did...

We started by brainstorming what we already knew about turkeys.
I wrote down exactly what the kids told me and attempted to
draw a quick picture.
I was very impressed with their answers.

The AM class organized their turkey feathers to spell their name. Some kiddos had a harder time because their names are so much longer than others.

First, we read this cute book. Then, we brainstormed some foods we could eat for Thanksgiving INSTEAD of turkey. This was WAY too funny.

A cute and sentimental keepsake for you Mommas out there. I'm very THANKFUL for your kiddos.

"The Turkey Ball" is a great read, especially for rhyming words. After reading we made our own shape turkeys.

FOCUS: colors, shapes, cutting and gluing skills, following directions, and listening.

After reading "10 Fat Turkeys," the PM class colored and glued 10 of their own turkeys. We have been practicing counting to 10 by tag counting (pointing to each turkey as we count).

This matching game is my favorite. I use it with EVERY theme we have. The older class matched uppercase and lowercase letters. The class matched colors. It's a great way to practice skills, quickly.

Practicing Positional Words
Picture
Picture

This is such a hard topic to teach. I racked my brain thinking of how to get through to the kiddos. FINALLY it came to me. I drug a table over by the carpet and we played a fun game. I would say, "get ON the table" "get UNDER the table", and "stand BESIDE the table". They thought it was the best game ever. We sure do know our positional words now!!!

The AM class sorted their leaves by color, then counted them.
 No help was needed. :-)

The PM class graphed their leaves.

The students counted as high as they could. They got to put that many leaves on their tree.

"Leaf Man" is the perfect story to get the kiddos minds going. I love reading the story, then having them create their own leaf creation.
No directions, just GO!

Scarecrows

There are SO many great Scarecrow books. They came in very handy, especially since many of the students didn't know what a Scarecrow was.

These books have read alouds on YouTube. The students LOVED them.
I especially loved "The Scarecrow's Secret".
It's very interactive and keep the students engaged.
Don't mind my horrible artwork (although the kids think I'm the best artist EVER). The 4/5 year olds guided me through making a Scarecrow. They told me what to draw and I did exactly what they said. They picked the articles of clothing and the colors of each. Then we labeled our scarecrow. I used it to teach the 3/4 year olds later
in the day.
Picture
The 3 year old class made Scarecrows of their own. It was quite the process. First they used their "finger muscles" to tear paper. Then they practiced gluing.
I traced and cut all the handprint "straw". Lastly, we assembled all the pieces.
It took a lot of listening and following directions.

The 3/4 year olds made shape crows. We focused on the colors black and orange. We also focused on the 4 shapes we learn in preschool.
The kiddos made fingerprint (fine motor) corn stalks. We used the colors of fall (brown, red, orange, and yellow). The 4/5 year olds made shape scarecrows.
The older class did this all by themselves.

Our FALL Parties went great! We wrapped ourselves like mummys, played musical PUMPKIN chairs, and had lots of wonderful treats!
Thanks again to all the parents who sent things in. :-)
