We also talked about the color of their bat or cat.
A couple books we used to go along with BATS! The kiddos loved these CAT books! At the end of our week we compared BATS and CATS. This was the 3 year olds sorting activity. The students were given either a bat or a cat and they had to verbalize what it was (This is a _______.)

Our shape monsters turned out really cute. We first voted on the shape we wanted to make. Then we used our listening skills to follow directions. The 4/5 year old class got to make their own monster. They decided all the body parts. After their monster was assembled we talked about describing words to describe their monster. They turned out GREAT!
A couple books that came in handy this week. The morning kiddos charted it they were scared of spiders or not. We have some brave kiddos. The afternoon kiddos also charted. The students had a GREAT time making edible spiders. We used 1 jumbo marshmallow and 8 stick pretzels to make the legs. After we were all finished we ate them! Our number focus this week was the number 8. We made spiders out of the number eight. We used our fine motor skills to thread pipe cleaners to make 8 legs. Then added 8 eyes. Hopefully by the end of the week all the 4/5 year olds knew how to count to 8. We practiced counting a lot this week. However high the student counted, that's how many spiders they go to put on their web.
Some kiddos can count REALLY high! Here are a few pictures from our field trip. I took A LOT more of each individual child. Those pictures will be in their portfolios. AM KiddosPM KiddosWe investigated the inside of a pumpkin. Some of the kids had never seen one before. One child even called it a "PINEAPPLE". All the kiddos got to feel the inside and pick out the seeds. Fine Motor PumpkinsThe 3 year old class used their fine motor skills by tearing paper to make a pumpkin. We talked about the color orange and used our finger muscles to do our job. Spookley the Square PumpkinSuch a sweet story. After reading about Spookley we made our own shape pumpkins. The students first chose the pumpkin they wanted then they practiced listening and following directions. We are still learning how to use glue, and how much to use. The Color ORANGEWe did a fun experiment. We first predicted what color RED and YELLOW would make if we mixed it. I got answers from purple to rainbow. I mixed red and yellow paint in a Ziplock bag. The students got to help mix it up. They were amazed at the results. RED+YELLOW=ORANGE How Many Pumpkins Tall Are We?Apples and PumpkinsThe students continue to amaze me. They came up with ALL of this by themselves.
