He is KINDERGARTEN ready!
We reviewed shapes too. Then we made our very own shape penguins.
This required lots of listening, paying attention, and following directions.
This next activity requires LOTS of higher thinking and problem solving. The activity started with a whole group activity. The students took turns rolling dice. Javier rolled a 3, so he got to put 3 penguins on the Smart Board. The next student also rolled a 3, so he got to put 3 penguins on the Smart Board. As a class we counted the penguins, added them, totaled them, and wrote them. The activities covered so many areas. These kids are learning so much and their problem solving skills are way above level! I'm so proud! |
After doing the whole group Smart Board activity each student was able to do the same independent activity. First, they practiced cutting and cut all their penguins out. Next, I counted with them. However high they counted is how many penguins they got. Then, each student glued the penguins on their paper. Skills= cutting, color identification, gluing, counting, adding, number recognition, and of course following direction. |
