Here are some great turkey books for both 3 and 4 year olds. Turkey Match I loved having the preschoolers share. We have a lot to be thankful for. A few books about leaves. Fall Leaves Fall and Leaves are two that I read with my 3 year old class. Red Leaf, Yellow Leaf and Leaf Man are two that I read with my 4 year old class.
The 3 year olds matched color to color. The 4 year olds matched number to number. Leaf Rubbing (great for fine motor) Sorting Leaves by color Counting Leaves Each child counted as many leaves as they could. They got to glue the number of leaves they counted. Following Directions with Positional Words (on, beside, under) Graphing Leaves Making our own "leaf men"This was my favorite story and activity. Leaf Man is such a fun book that the kids loved. We made our own leaf men creations.
We discussed body parts, colors, and bigger and smaller leaves. These 3 books are some I used with my 4 year olds. Jeb Scarecrow's Pumpkin Patch is a bit long, but still good. There Was An Old Lady Who Swallowed Some Leaves is great for sequencing. The Little Scarecrow Boy is just a cute story. 3 Year OldsI found this simple poem for my 3 year olds. I read it, they repeated it, then they matched the article of clothing with the color on the poem. Then we made our own scarecrow puppets. After assembling them we pointed to the clothing items on our own puppets. 4 Year OldsShape Scarecrows Counting crows and recognizing numbers 1-4.
