After listening to our first Pete the Cat story, we played a fun game with our friends. Rolling the dice, counting, and then counting buttons to put on our very own Pete the Cat. These new friends played so well together. Letter Cc was our letter this week. Look at these great writers. Some of them even recognized the letter Cc in names of family members. Our final Pete the Cat activity involved a snack. We practiced color recognition, shape recognition, and lots of listening skills. YUMMY!!
What a FANTASTIC week!! We began book buddies with our 3rd grade friends. Every Friday we will be reading and doing fun things with them. One of the joys of a small school. Ms. Sarah is the best reader. Our preschoolers couldn't get enough of their library books. Don't forget Library every Monday and Wednesday. Puzzles and teamwork!! Letter and name practice has already begun!! A little bit of chalk on this beautiful day! Look at their creativity.
Center time/free play is a favorite in our classroom. Learning through play is the best. How is it already August? I feel like summer just began.
Although I loved grilling every night, catching fireflies, and late-night fishing... I'm excited to be back in a routine and back at school. I begin my 13th year of teaching. Pax is entering 4th grade. Reese is entering 3rd grade. Jules is entering 1st grade. Houston (not pictured) will begin his last year at daycare. The girls had a fun-filled morning of pampering and fashion shows. Dress-up outfits and a nail polish party were on the agenda. SO MUCH GIRLY FUN!! The boys' morning involved race tracks, cars, and superheroes.
The eggs came at the perfect time, FARM WEEK! The preschoolers loved seeing them hatch. They especially loved holding them. The cow made her appearance again this year.
It's always fun to see the students faces when they get milk. The weather was beautiful. We decided to take our lesson activity outside. Shape practice is something we do a couple times a week. Today we had to water shape flowers. The teacher gave a command and the students completed the task. (Find the triangle flower and water it). The preschoolers always love some free time with chalk and their friends. They have such big imaginations. We've been learning about the parts of a flower. We dug up a tulip outside and examined the parts with all of our senses. Hands-on learning is the best! Ordering numbers is an advanced skill that these almost kindergarteners have down. ALL THE WAY TO 20!!!! Before Easter we dyed our own eggs. Some of us stayed cleaner than others. |
